SYNCRETIC AND SAMSARA RITUALS
Using hundreds or thousands of incense cones/cotton wicks, these works use repetitive action that mimics the ‘jhap’ or chant in rituals/prayer beads. The syncretic rituals use Islamic motifs with Hindu ritual materials. The motifs or patterns mostly come from the artist’s childhood playground in Delhi – The Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi.
